LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team will begin its fall slate of competition Saturday with a doubleheader against the BYU Cougars. The Rebels will welcome their former Mountain West foes to Las Vegas for a pair of games beginning at 11:00 am.

After weeks of individual workouts and team practices, the Scarlet & Gray kick off a stretch of 11 contests - two doubleheaders, one round robin tournament and an alumnae game - over a span of four weekends.

The Scarlet & Gray's roster will be comprised of 11 letterwinners and 11 newcomers, including a redshirt freshman from last year's squad.

UNLV is coming off a second-place finish in the MW and a 26-28 overall record. Garie Blando, Emily Haslinger and Samantha Juarez helped the team to a 15-9 mark in league play and in return the trio earned all-conference honors. In addition, Blando was tabbed the MW's MVP.
