Oct. 26, 2014 BOULDER CITY, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 13 UNLV women's golf sits third after the first round at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The Rebels turned in a 1-over-par 289 at the par-72, 6,277-yard Boulder Creek Country Club on Sunday.
San Diego State leads the field at 7-under 281 and UC Riverside is second at 1-under 287. Indiana, Gonzaga and Long Beach Stated at tied for fourth at 6-over 294.
Senior Dana Finkelstein leads the Rebels and sits third, four strokes off the lead. She turned in an opening round score of 3-under 69.
San Diego State's Haleigh Krause leads all indviduals at 7-under 65 and UC Riverside's Svannah Vilaubi is second at 5-under 67. San Diego State's Emma Henrikson, Idaho's Kristin Strankman and UC Riverside's Brittani Ferraro are tied for fourth at 2-under 70.
Also competing for the Rebels is sophomore Vivian Hsuan Chen, who is tied for 11th at even-par 72, senior Mayko Chwen Wang and freshman Harley Dubsky are tied for 30th at 2-over 74 and freshman Mackenzie Raim is tied for 84th at 8-over 80. Sophomore Avery French and senior Marguerite Swearingen are playing as individuals and are tied for 41st at 3-over 75.
The 18 teams and 96 individuals will continue with the second round on Monday and the first group is slated to tee off at 7:30 a.m. PT. Raim will start the Rebels' day at 9:09 a.m. PT followed by Wang at 9:18 a.m. PT, Dubksy at 9:27 a.m. PT, Chen at 9:36 a.m. PT and Finkelstein at 9:45 a.m. PT.
