Men's Basketball

Runnin' Rebels At CSU On Wednesday

Feb. 4, 2014

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team, which has won four straight games, five of its last six and 12 of its last 15, will travel to Fort Collins, Colo., to play at Colorado State on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. MST/6 p.m. PST.

UNLV defeated Utah State (62-42) on Jan. 22 and Fresno State (75-73 in overtime) on Jan. 25, both at home, before winning at San José State (70-46) last Wednesday and against Boise State (73-69) in comeback fashion back at home on Saturday. UNLV twice came back from double-digit deficits in the second half against the Broncos and closed the game on a 17-2 run over the final 3:48.

Prior to its current four-game win streak, the Runnin' Rebels recorded a split in arguably their toughest road trip of the season: a 76-73 win at New Mexico on Jan. 15 at The Pit, and a 63-52 loss on Jan. 18 at No. 5 San Diego State.

UNLV is now alone in fourth place in the Mountain West standings with a 6-3 mark, while Colorado State is seventh at 3-6. Wednesday's game against the Rams will be shown on ESPN3 with Ari Wolfe and Blaine Fowler calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the radio call, which may be heard on ESPN Radio 1100/98.9 FM. The watch and radio broadcast listen links along with Gametracker are available at UNLVRebels.com.

The Runnin' Rebels are second in the nation in 3-point field-goal defense, limiting their opponents to just 26.6 percent from behind the arc, are fifth in the country in blocked shots per game at 6.8, and are fifth in effective field-goal percentage defense at 42.5. Roscoe Smith leads the country in rebounding (11.8 rpg) and double-doubles (14), while Khem Birch is second in the nation in blocked shots (3.77 bpg). Bryce Dejean-Jones leads the team in scoring with 14.2 ppg.
