LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team closed out a run of four matches in six days with a 4-2 loss to No. 27 Columbia at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Monday.

The Lady Rebels fell to 7-7 while the Lions of the Ivy League improved to 9-2.

Columbia, which boasts two highly ranked duos, opened the morning by taking the doubles point.

In singles, freshman Kamelia Dimitrova got her team on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Vivian Cheng at the fifth position. UNLV's other point came at the top spot where Lucia Batta, ranked 51st nationally, fought off 70th-ranked Kanika Vaidya 6-3, 7-6. It improved the senior standout to 21-7 in singles this season and moved her to within five wins of tying for second place on the Rebels' all-time list (Jolene Watanabe 120 from 1987-90).

After taking the rest of the week off for spring break, UNLV will be back in action March 26 when it hosts Oregon. Doubles play begins at 10 a.m. and admission is free of charge.
