The game was scoreless through four innings and then Rebels opened up the scoring in the fifth inning when Matt McCallister doubled to left field and was later driven in when Justin Jones singled.
UNLV extended its lead to 2-0 after Patrick Armstrong hit a one-out, solo home run, his fourth of the year, in the sixth inning.

Arizona State's closer Ryan Burr came in for the ninth and allowed one hit, but struck out two and shot down the Rebels' hopes at a rally.
UNLV starter Kenny Oakley (3-3) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in 7.0 innings of work. Oakley struck out four and did not allow a walk on the night. Brayden Torres came in for relief in the eighth inning and allowed two runs on two hits, struck out two and walked two in his 1.0 inning of work.
Pat Armstrong (2-for-4) and Erik VanMeetren (2-for-4) each finished with multiple hits in the game to lead the Rebels from the plate.
UNLV will continue on its road trip by traveling to face Air Force. The two teams are scheduled to play on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. PT, but poor weather conditions could force the teams into playing a double header on Friday.
Fans will be able to watch all three games between the Rebels and the Falcons on UNLVRebels.com, thanks to the Mountain West Network.
