Danny Musovski - I Am A Rebel

A seven-game win streak does not come easy, but when you have a player that is one of the top goal scorers in the nation on your roster, it certainly helps. That is what the Rebels have in sophomore forward Danny Musovski, who boasts four game-winners already this season, which ties him for third-highest in the nation. Even more impressive, he had a streak of three straight game-winners, including two in the final five minutes of a three-game span.

The stellar play of Musovski should not come as a surprise, as he was voted the WAC preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He was also the second leading scorer on last season's team as a freshman. He elevated his game to the next level when it counted the most, as he was named the 2014 WAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Rebels to their first conference title since 1987 and to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1988.

"He has done a great job for us this season," said UNLV head coach Rich Ryerson. "He's a threat whenever he gets the ball." The Las Vegas native currently ranks 21st in the nation in total goals with six and is 27th in total points with 14.

Musovski, who played his prep career at Liberty High School in Henderson and set the state record for both goals in a season (58) and in a career (128), was recruited by several top soccer programs including Washington and Northwestern. However, Ryerson was able to keep Musovski in Las Vegas, and that has paid off huge for the Rebels. "We want the best local players and Danny was the best local player in Las Vegas," says Ryerson. "It was extremely important to keep him here."

"I chose UNLV because I love this city," said Musovski. "I love being close to my family, and I knew that if I could play for UNLV, I could make an impact right away.

As for all of Musovski's game-winners this season, he says, "It just so happened that I was put into great opportunities by my teammates to score at the end of games. At the end of the day, they are just wins and they all feel the same to me, whether it's a last-minute goal or if we blow a team out."

Speaking of wins, the Rebels seven game winning streak was recently snapped in a 1-0 loss to UTRGV to bring them to an overall record of 7-3 over their first ten games. But Musovski knows the key to bouncing back from that loss is simple, the team just needs to put the loss behind them and concentrate on the next game.

Musovski is joined this season by his younger brother Adam, a freshman defender. "He's going to be a very good defender for us," says Ryerson. The Rebels, including the Musovski brothers, travel to San Jose on Friday where they will take on the SJSU Spartans with every intention of rebounding from Sunday's game and starting a new winning streak.
