Patrick McCaw has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Friday.
The new award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition, as voted on by the UNLV communications department.
McCaw led his team in scoring this last week, averaging 22.0 points per game. He shot 48.5 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line. He also averaged 3.0 assists per game with no turnovers, recorded 4.0 rebounds per contest and led the team with 2.5 steals per game as the Runnin' Rebels split their games (win over Southern Utah, loss to UCLA in Maui).
Against SUU, he scored a career-high and game-high 24 points on 8 of 12 from the field, including 3 of 6 3-pointers and was 5 of 5 on free throws. Against the Bruins, he scored 20 points, again leading the team.
