Dec. 1, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV sophomore wide receiver Devonte Boyd was named Second Team All-Mountain West Conference as part of the league's official postseason awards announced Tuesday.
In addition, a pair of Rebels -- junior linebacker Tau Lotulelei and junior center Will Kreitler -- earned honorable mention. All three UNLV players cited for their work this fall return for 2016.
Boyd, a graduate of Henderson's Basic High School, continued to build his already impressive career resume. The former FWAA Freshman All-America and MW Freshman of the Year has compiled the most career yards of any UNLV sophomore in history with 1,884. He led the Rebels in 2015 with 54 receptions for 907 yards and seven touchdowns, ranking third in the league and 44th in the nation with 75.3 yards per game.
Kreitler (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert HS) led the team in knockdown blocks while allowing just one quarterback sack this season after transferring in from Scottsdale Community College. The Rebels saw three backs post more than 450 yards as UNLV finished 39th in the nation in rushing yards under first-year head coach Tony Sanchez just a year after finishing dead last in the conference in that category.
Despite missing considerable time because of injury, Lotulelei (Kihei, Hawaii/Maui HS) finished fourth on the team with 70 total tackles and led the Rebels with 11.5 tackles-for-loss and three quarterback sacks. His 7.0 tackles-per-game average ranked 15th in the MW.
