PHOENIX, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (2-2) struggled to get anything going offensively as the Rebels were shut out 7-0 by Grand Canyon (4-0) on Tuesday.
The Antelopes used strong pitching to take care of UNLV, retiring 16 straight at one point.
GCU got on the board after a two run homer in the bottom of the third. The `Lopes tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth, two more in the bottom of the sixth and two more runs in the bottom of the eighth.
The Rebels' best opportunity came in the top of the eighth inning when they had two runners in scoring position with two outs, but a UNLV strikeout ended the threat.
Numerous Rebels made their collegiate debuts in the game as
Corey Wilson,
Blaze Bohall,
Dan Skelly and
Christian Myers came in for relief.
UNLV will be back in action on Friday at 6:05 p.m. PT as it hosts Pacific for a four game series. The Friday and Monday games will broadcast on Sports Radio 920 The Game with Dug Dugless and Josh Towers on the call. Sunday's game at 1:05 p.m. PT will be a Mountain West Network production with Tyler Bischoff handling play-by-play duties and former Rebel

This season at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, fans will enjoy a new and improved concession stand. Smoken Sams catering will be providing entrees that range from barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers to nachos, chicken fingers and fries. A variety of beverages will also be available.
