RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 14 UNLV women's golf team split its two matches on Tuesday at the 2015 SDSU Farms Invitational, which is being held at the par-72, 6,199-yard, The Farms Golf Club.
The Rebels, who are the No. 3 seed at the 16-team match-play format event, fell to sixth seeded San Diego State 3-2 in the championship bracket's second round.
The Aztecs, who are hosting the tournamenet, claimed the only victory in the matchup as Paige Spirant defeated
Mayko Chwen Wang (2 and 1). Every other pairing finished tied and each earned half a point in the match.
Avery French and Georgia Lacey each won four holes,
Mackenzie Raim and Mila Chaves split by each also winning four holes,
Harley Dubsky and Sirene Blair tied by each capturing five holes a piece and
Dana Finkelstein and Emma Herickson each won six holes.
In the third round, which was also played on Saturday, UNLV captured a win over seventh-seeded California, 3-2.
Wang won her pairing over Carly Childs (5 and 3), Dubsky defeated Marthe Wold (2 and 1) and Finkelstein captured a victory over Lucia Gutierrez (5 and 3). French and Raim each fell to Hannah Suh and Pauline Loulier (4 and 3).
With the win, the Rebels will face top-overall seed Oklahoma State in the fourth and final round on Wednesday. The two teams will tee off at 7:45 a.m. PT.
