LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's soccer team recently concluded a very successful spring season, as a 6-1 blitzing of UC Irvine on April 18 finished off a 5-1 schedule. The only loss was in the first game, at the hands of the MLS's Colorado Rapids by a 2-0 score. UNLV then won the next five games by an 18-3 margin.

"The spring picked up with the same level of success from where we left off last fall," said UNLV head coach Rich Ryerson. "I was extremely pleased with the spring season, both on and off the field. The guys did well in local schools reading to the valley's youth, performed strong academically in the classroom, and had a great spring playing season. We played some fantastic competition and were able to travel to San Diego State and UC Irvine and come away with a pair of wins. Hopefully those trips will give the guys the vision of what their road trips will look like for the fall. We had a few shutouts and scored plenty for a spring season, a trait the group showed well last year. I'm excited for the 2015 UNLV Rebel campaign, it should be pretty exciting!"

Following the loss in its spring opener to the Rapids, UNLV would post three straight shutouts, thanks to 3-0 wins over Yavapai on Feb. 22, a 3-0 win at San Diego State on March 21 and a 1-0 victory over Cal State Northridge, also on March 21 in San Diego.

Other wins in the season included a 5-2 win over Cal State San Bernardino in Las Vegas on April 11, and the 6-1 win at UCI on April 18.

Current freshman Danny Musovski paced the Rebel offense during the spring, as he posted a total of five goals over the five games. Blake Balelo and Tony Murillo both had three goals each, while Andy Rodriguez and Oscar Velzazquez were the other two multi-goal scorers with two.

In goal for the Rebels were Richard Garness and Nathan Bohm, both of whom split time in the net and would post split shutouts in the first three games.
