Rashad Vaughn Announces He Will Declare For NBA Draft

April 8, 2015

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's basketball freshman guard Rashad Vaughn has announced that he intends to declare for the 2015 NBA Draft.

"My experience at UNLV has truly changed my life and helped me become a better player on the floor and a better person off of it," Vaughn said. "My teammates became brothers and my coaches became family. Everybody supports each other here and there is nothing like being a Runnin' Rebel. I will always bleed Scarlet and Gray. Since being a kid, my dream has always been to play in the NBA and I have decided to take that next step."

Vaughn, who was selected as the Mountain West's Freshman of the Year and also honorable mention all-league, started all 23 games he played in this season before being sidelined for the remainder of the year with a knee injury. He averaged a team-high 17.8 points per game, which ranked second in the MW at the time of his injury and was third in the country among freshmen. He also averaged 4.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor and 38.3 percent on 3-pointers.

"Rashad will always be a Runnin' Rebel," UNLV men's basketball head coach Dave Rice said. "We wish him all the best and we are cheering for him."

Vaughn scored in double figures in 21 of his 23 games played, including each of his last 19 contests. He scored 20 or more nine times and 30 or more twice, while averaging 32.2 minutes played per game.

He was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches' All-District 17 Second Team.
