SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (22-24, 8-16 Mountain West) captured its first series win at San Diego State (31-18, 17-10 MW) since 2007 after holding off the Aztecs for a 4-3 win on Sunday at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

UNLV had to rally for the second consecutive day as SDSU took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Payton Squier led charge for the Rebels in the sixth inning, drilling a one-out triple off the right field wall with the bases loaded, giving UNLV a 3-2 lead. Erik VanMeetren brought Squier home five pitches later after he singled up the middle.

The four runs were all the Rebels needed after San Diego State was only able to plate one more run the rest of the game.

Squier led UNLV offensively, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Andrew Yazdanbakhsh also finished with three hits, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk. VanMeetren went 1-for-1, but reached base in all five appearances after he drew four walks.

Blaze Bohall (6-2) collected the win after allowing two runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings of work. Ben Wright earned his second save of the season after allowing one run on two hits in 4.0 innings of work. Wright also recorded a strikeout and did not allow a walk.

The Rebels will return to Las Vegas to host Long Beach State on Tuesday at 3:05 p.m. PT. UNLV will resume Mountain West play on Friday by hosting Fresno State for a three-game series. The series opener between the Rebels and Bulldogs will begin at 3:05 p.m. on Friday.
