May 7, 2015 ST. GEORGE, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 22 UNLV women's golf team is third at the NCAA St. George Regional, which is being plated at the par-71, 6,55 yard, Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club. The Rebels turned in a first round score of 17-over-par 301.
Southern California leads all teams and is five strokes ahead of second-place team California (+9). Throughout the first round, Cal, Arkansas and UNLV battled for second place, the three teams tying at one point. At the end of the round, UNLV is in third (+17) and Wisconsin is in fourth (+19), while Arkansas dropped to seventh (+22).
Senior Dana Finkelstein, who ranks 20th in the country according to GolfStat, leads the Rebels and turned in a 1-over 72 in the first round. She is in a five-way tie for fourth.
California's Pauline Loulier leads all individuals and was the only player to post a score below par in the first round. She turned in a score of 3-under and has a three-stroke lead over Washington State's Alivia Brown and USC's Karen Chung, who both finished at even-par.
Also competing for the Rebels is freshman Mackenzie Raim, who is tied for 11th at 3-over 74. Sophomore Avery French is tied for 32nd at 6-over 77, senior Mayko Chwen Wang is tied for 39th at 7-over 78 and freshman Harley Dubsky is tied for 48th at 8-over 79.
A total of 18 teams and 96 individuals are competing in the three-day regional, which will continue with the second round on Friday.
