LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (22-26, 8-17 MW) suffered a 6-1 loss to Fresno State (25-25, 14-11 MW) on Friday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
Edgar Montes led the way for the Rebels, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. Morgan Stotts also finished with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a RBI.
The Bulldogs plated three runs in the first inning and added one more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.
UNLV scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when Stotts drove in Payton Squier on a RBI single.
Fresno State added two more runs (one in the seventh and eighth) to secure the victory.
Kenny Oakley (3-5) went six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. He struck out four and issued no walks. Cody Roper, Dan Skelly, Matt Thomas and Corey Wilson all made relief appearances for the Rebels.
UNLV will continue its three-game set against Fresno State on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. D.J. Myers (2-2, 4.20 ERA) is probable for the Rebels, while Ricky Thomas (3-2, 3.13 ERA) is expected to pitch for the Bulldogs.
