USA Softball National Team: Roster & Schedule
World Cup of Softball: Schedule | Live Streaming
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV softball head coach Lisa Dodd will serve as an assistant coach with the USA Softball's National Team this summer. Dodd as well as Laura Berg (Oregon State head coach) and Howard Dobson (LSU assistant coach) will assist USWNT head coach Ken Eriksen (USF head coach) the next two months at the World Cup X of Softball, Pan American Games and Japan Cup.
This summer will be Dodd's second consecutive year coaching the USWNT after previously serving as an assistant with USA Softball's Junior National Team one year earlier.
"It's a huge honor to be asked to be a part of the USA National Team again this summer," said Dodd, who has coached at UNLV for three years. "To be able to put on the Red, White & Blue and represent my country on the international scale is something I have dreamt about since I was a little girl. Having the opportunity to work with and learn from the best coaches and athletes the country is incredibly humbling and it's an experience that I look forward to bringing back to the Rebels."
The USWNT begins its international play this week in defense of its 2014 World Cup of Softball title Monday through July 5. The squad will be joined at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif., by national teams from Argentina, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela as well as the US Juniors.
In addition to the 2014 World Cup crown, the USWNT finished second at both the Canadian Open and ISF Women's World Championships in Surrey, B.C., Canada and Haarlem, Netherlands, respectively.
Later this summer, the USWNT will play some exhibition events July 10-14 in Ewing, N.J., and Findlay, Ohio before it attends the Pan American Games (Toronto/July 15-26) and Japan Cup (Ogaki/August 7-9),
