2015 Maui Jim Maui Invitational Championship Round Bracket | Tournament's Official Bracket Announcement
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Maui Jim Maui Invitational announced its 2015 Championship Round bracket on Tuesday.
The Runnin' Rebels will play the last of the four games on the first day of play at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii, against UCLA on Monday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. HST/8:30 p.m. PST. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
Kansas and Chaminade are the other schools on UNLV's side of the bracket. The winners from the first day will face off on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. HST/7 p.m. PST on ESPN, while the losers will play at 11:30 a.m. HST/1:30 p.m. PST on ESPN2.
The other side of the bracket features St. John's against Vanderbilt and Wake Forest against Indiana.
The final day of the 32nd edition of the nation's premier early-season college basketball tournament will be Wednesday, Nov. 25. All 12 Championship Round games of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational will be televised by the ESPN family of networks.
The teams of the Championship Round include four of the top-10 winningest programs in NCAA Division I men's basketball history. The field has combined to win 20 national championships, has made 47 trips to the Final Four and has accumulated 215 NCAA Tournament berths. Five played in the postseason last year with four being NCAA Tournament participants (UCLA - Sweet 16, Kansas - Round of 32, Indiana - Round of 64, St. John's - Round of 64). Vanderbilt made the quarterfinals of the NIT.
Prior to heading to Maui, each Championship Round team will host one of four Regional Games participants in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational Opening Games. UNLV will host Cal Poly on Friday, Nov. 13 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The teams that are not in the Championship Rounds on the island will participate in the Regional Games at Northern Colorado on Nov. 21 and 22.
This year will mark UNLV's third all-time appearance at the Maui Invitational. The Runnin' Rebels have a record of 3-3 in the event after participating in 1988 and again in 2000.
As part of its first year as title sponsor, Maui Jim is launching a sweepstakes in which one lucky fan will win a trip for two to this year's Maui Jim Maui Invitational. UNLV returns seven scholarship players from last year's roster with five newcomers making up another highly regarded recruiting class. After a top-five recruiting class in 2014, Rivals has this year's Runnin' Rebel class ranked No. 11 in the country.
