Sept. 14, 2015 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team sits fourth at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational after the first day. The Rebels turned in a score of 1-under-par 583 (291-292) at New Mexico's par-73, 6,315-yard Championship Course.
Stanford leads the field and turned in a two-round score of 18-under 566 (281-285). Northwestern (289-289) is second with 6-under, and Oregon is in third place with 2-under 582 (290-292). Oklahoma State rounds out the top five at 1-over 585 (292-293).
Stanford's Mariah Stackhouse leads the invitational with a two-round score of 6-under 140 (69-71). Miami's Delfina Acosta (75-66), Oregon's Caroline Inglis (70-71) and Stanford's Shannon Aubert (71-70) and Lauren Kim (73-68) are all tied for second place with a score of 5 five-under 141.
Sophomore Mackenzie Raim leads the way for the Rebels with the 10th best score of the Invitational, a 2-under 144 (73-71). Oklahoma transfer Alexandra Kaui posted a solid score of 1-under 145 (71-74) in her debut for UNLV that tied for 14th place on the leaderboard. Freshmen Kaylee Benton and Texie June Petchel also made their own debuts. Benton finished the two rounds with a score of even-par 146 (75-71), and Petchel notched a score of 12-over 158 (82-76). Junior Vivian Hsuan Chen ended the two rounds with a score of 7-over 153 (75-78) as an individual.
The 18 teams and 104 individuals will play the final round of the tournament on Tuesday. Third round action will begin with a shotgun start set for 8:00 a.m. PT.
