LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team, who is in the midst of individual workouts, will begin preparation for the 2016 season next week with the start of fall practice. The Rebels will have three weeks filled with practices and intrasquad scrimmages before it begins a seven-game stretch in mid-October that will be concluded with their annual alumnae game on Nov. 7.

The Scarlet & Gray will host a two-day round-robin tournament on Oct. 17-18, where it will welcome Cypress College (Cypress, Calif.) and the College of Southern Nevada to Eller Media Stadium. Each team will play twice each day with the Rebels scheduled Saturday, Oct. 17 for 9:00 am (CSN) and 1:00 pm (Cypress) and Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1:00 pm (Cypress) and 3:00 pm (CSN).

The following weekend, Oct. 24-25, UNLV will square off against BYU at EMS in a doubleheader that's scheduled for an 11:00 am first pitch. The following day, the Rebels and Salt Lake Community College will play a single affair (time TBA).

The Nov. 7, alumnae game is slated for the morning with UNLV football scheduled to face Hawai'i at 3:00 pm later that day.

The Rebels return 14 letterwinners, including five position starters and five pitchers. Garie Blando and Emily Haslinger were both tabbed to the Mountain West's All-Conference Team, while the former was selected to the NFCA's All-West Region Third Team, a year after she was a Second Team honoree and the MW's Player of the Year.
