The victory improved the Lady Rebels to 11-7 overall, and they are now alone in fourth place in the Mountain West at 4-3. They also moved to 1-0 in the series in the first meeting between the two in the Governor's Series, the all-sports competition between the two sponsored by NV Energy and Barrick Gold. UNR dropped to 3-15, 2-5 after the loss, and are now 0-17 all-time against UNLV in Las Vegas.

A free throw with 1:09 left and the fifth trey of the game from Schmid brought the Wolf Pack to its closest margin at four, 63-59 with 35 seconds left. For the third straight game Brooke Johnson stepped up to seal the win, as she drained a pair of free throws for UNLV to make it a six-point game, and the Lady Rebels then forced a turnover on the following possession and ran out the clock for the victory.
