Key Conference Weekend Awaits Rebels

Oct. 20, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - @UNLVRebelSoccer | UNLV Weekly Release

UNLV men's soccer plays a pair of key WAC games this weekend, starting with Friday night's double-header against Air Force at 7 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field. That will be the second game that day, following the UNLV women facing Boise State at 5 pm. It's Breast Cancer Awareness Night for both teams, and tickets are just $4 for fans wearing pink to the game, while kids 12 and under are free to UNLV soccer contests. The UNLV Soccer Foundation is also holding a tailgate party for the night, starting at 4:30 pm, with free food, free drinks and live music.
While UNLV might look back at its past three games as misssed opportunities (two one-goal losses and a tie), it can't miss any more chances to secure a conference win and three points in the conference standings. The top six teams will advance to this year's postseason event at Utah Valley. UNLV comes into the weekend with seven points, which has them in fourth place, but two teams are one point back in a tie for fifth and a third team has five points, making this weekend even more key for the Rebels.
It won't be an easy task for UNLV either, as Friday's opponent, the Air Force Falcons, have surged into third place in the conference thanks to a 4-1 league mark, 10-4 overall. Following that game, the Rebels will head back to Texas for the second time this season for a road contest at Houston Baptist on Sunday night.
UNLV's game on Friday will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network, available online on UNLVRebels.com as well as on the Roku and Apple TV steaming devices. Sunday's game at Houston Baptist will not have live video.
