Musovski Named WAC Player Of The Week

Oct. 3, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - For the second time this season, UNLV forward Danny Musovski has been named the WAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday morning. It's also the third career weekly honor for the junior as well.

After returning from a five-game absence following a leg injury, the MAC Hermann Trophy candidate has been on a scoring tear, with 10 points over the past four games. That includes seven points off three goals and an assist over the Rebels' 2-0 performance on the opening weekend of WAC conference play. On Sept. 30 against CSU Bakersfield, Musovski assisted on the first score of the game to Memo Diaz. He then scored on a pair of second-half goals, the first right after halftime for the eventual game-winner, and then added another goal in the final two minutes to seal the 3-1 victory.

In the 4-0 win over San Jose State on Sunday, Musovski notched the final goal of the game, giving him six for the season. Currently he ranks first in the WAC with 2.17 points per game, which would be sixth in the nation had he played one more game (a player must appear in 75% of his team's games to appear in the national stats). His 15 points off six goals and three assists ranks his 25th in total points overall in NCAA competition.

The Rebels are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 6, with a road contest in Edinburg, Texas, at UTRGV with a 5 pm (PT) start.
