LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Gray team scored three unanswered runs to overcome a two-run deficit for a 4-3, come-from-behind win Tuesday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. By virtue of Tuesday's outcome, the Scarlet & Gray World Series will come down to Friday's one-game, winner-take-all affair, which is scheduled to start at 9:00 am. The game is free of charge and open to the public.

Gray player/head coach Justin Jones got the scoring started early with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The advantage was short-lived as Vince Taormina turned things around for the Scarlet in the second with a two-run double. Nick Rodriguez pushed the Scarlet's lead to two with an RBI groundout moments later.

Drew Newson and Cody Howard brought the game to a standstill - 3-all tie - in the third when the two combined for a single and a two-run home run, respectively, for the Gray.

Jones capped off the scoring in the fifth after he reached via a bloop double and later moved 90 feet at a time off a sacrifice bunt put in play by Kyle Isbel and a wild pitch thrown by Jake Lewis.

"It was nice to get the bats started quickly with a home run by myself in the first inning," noted Jones. "We had a couple mishaps on defense, but were able to keep them to just three runs. With the help of a two-run home run by Cody, it helped us build momentum for the rest of the game. Our pitchers did a great job keeping us in the game, and it helped us in the 4-3 victory."

The Gray, which saw starter Garrett Poole go two innings, got five scoreless in relief from Tevita Gerber, Cameron Sepede and Bryan Menendez. Gerber and Sepede threw two apiece with the latter credited with the win. Menendez picked up the save after he preserved the one-run win with an unblemished seventh.
