LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV softball's Janine Petmecky has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Friday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition, as voted on by the UNLV communications department.

Petmecky went 12-17 in the team's first six games, which included two doubles a home run, three RBIs and three walks for a 1.000 slugging percentage and .762 on-base percentage. She had one hit in all six games and at least two hits in four games. She reached base all four times against Texas Tech with three singles and a walk and all three times in the 11-1 win against Utah Valley in five innings which included a double. In 20 appearances at the plate, she didn't strike out once.
