Feb. 21, 2016 PEORIA, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 23 UNLV women's golf shot a 3-under-par 573 (285-288) in the first two rounds of the Westbrook Spring Invitational to tie for second place with Kansas State at the par-72, 6,269 yard Westbrook Village Vistas Golf Course. Freshman Kaylee Benton is also tied for second in the individual leaderboard after going four-under 140 (70-70).
Benton shot a 2-under 70 in both rounds to stay near the top of the leaderboard the entire day. She had three birdies and only one bogey each round, birdieing the fifth and eighth hole twice. Sophomore Mackenzie Raim registered a 1-under 143 (70-73) to place just outside the top ten at 11th. Freshman Shannon Oh turned in a 2-over 146 (69-77), and her first round score tied for the third best round score of the day. Freshman Elizabeth Prior (5-over 149) rebounded from a 6-over 78 from the first round and shot a 1-under 71 in the next round. Junior Alexandra Kaui is tied for 54th place at 6-over 150 (76-74). Oregon is six strokes ahead of UNLV at 9-under 567 (285-282).
Ohio State sits in fourth place at 1-under 575 (287-288), and No. 23 Notre Dame is in fifth at even-par 576 (286-290).
Caroline Inglis of Oregon leads all golfers at 5-under 139 (70-69). Kansas State's Katherine Gravel-Coursol (72-68) and Connie Jaffrey (71-69) are tied with Benton at 4-under 140.
The Rebels will tee off at holes one-four in the final round with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and are paired up with the Wildcats and Ducks.
