Feb. 22, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 23 UNLV women's golf shot a 2-over par 290 in the final round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational to finish fourth at 1-under-par 863 (285-288-290) at the par-72, 6,269 yard Westbrook Village Vistas Golf Course. Freshman Kaylee Benton finished in 14th place with a 1-under 215 (70-70-75) as the top performer for the Rebels.
Sophomore Mackenzie Raim also placed in the top 20 of the field, turning in an even-par 216 (70-73-73) to toe for 18th place. Freshman Elizabeth Prior shot the best third round for UNLV (1-under 71), and she finished tied for 37th place at 4-over 220 (78-71-71). Freshman Shannon Oh (69-77-74) tied for 37th place, and junior Alexandra Kaui had her best round of golf (even-par 72) on the final day by birdieing two of the last five holes to tie for 48th place at 6-over 222 (76-74-72).
The second round leader by six strokes, Oregon maintained its advantage with a 10-under 854 (285-282-287). Ohio State moved up the leaderboard on the closing day to grab second with a 5-under 859 (287-288-284). Kansas State finished third with a 3-under 861 (289-284-288).
Wisconsin's Brooke Ferrell shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to tie for medalist at 5-under 211 (71-71-69). The other co-medalist was Emma Henrikson of San Diego State (69-73-69) who also turned in a 3-under 69 on the final day to place first.
The Rebels will be off for two weeks before competing at the familiar Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. for the Bison Tournament on Mar. 7-8. UNLV hosted its annual Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown from Oct. 25-27 and tied for first place in the tournament.
