Feb. 24, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV softball heads out on the road for the first time in 2016 to play two doubleheaders in the USF Tournament on Friday and Saturday and will face Wisconsin, USF and Kansas. The Rebels will face Wisconsin at 8:30 a.m. and host USF at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, and then the following day play Kansas at 6:15 a.m. and a to-be-determined team later in the day.

LOOKING BACK A WEEK
The UNLV Rebels went 3-2 in their second home tournament of 2016, the four-day-event DeMarini Desert Classic. UNLV beat UC Davis 3-2, Robert Morris 8-3 and Portland State 7-0 while falling to Southern Utah 10-7 in eight innings and UTEP 6-0.
Kwyn Cooper did it all for UNLV last weekend, leading the way in the pitcher's circle and at the plate. She threw a complete game in a 3-2 win over UC Davis on Saturday, allowing seven hits, two runs and two walks with one strikeout. In the 7-0 win against Portland State, she threw all but one inning of a four-hit shutout of the Vikings, gave up four hits with zero walks and one strikeout and only allowed a baserunner to reach second base three times in the game. She held her own at the plate as well, going 8-15 with three runs and two RBIs in five games. She went 4-4 in the 8-3 victory over Robert Morris.
Alyssa Batastini collected her first collegiate win against Robert Morris as the starting pitcher. Batastini pitched four innings with four hits, two runs and one walk allowed with three strikeouts.
Two-time all-conference first teamer Garie Blando saw her first action of 2016, coming in as a pinch-hitter three times. In the three at-bats, she had two hits and two RBIs.
ON DECK
UNLV returns home for the third home tournament of the season, the Alexis Park Resort Classic from Mar. 3-6. UNLV will open up with Southern Utah for the second time to start the tournament, and will also face Florida Atlantic, who's currently receiving votes in both polls, Drake and Saint Mary's.
