Rebels, Wolf Pack Rekindle Rivalry

2016 UNLV Baseball Weekly Notes: Week 6.1 | Nevada, Reno's Notes

The UNLV Rebels remain at home for games two through four of their six-game homestand, which is taking place over a span of eight days at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. UNLV, who suffered a 10-8 setback to the Grand Canyon Lopes Tuesday, will host the Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack Thursday through Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm on both Thursday's and Friday's affairs, while Saturday's contest is slated for a 2:05 pm start.

THE GOVERNOR'S SERIES RESUMES: The UNLV Rebels and Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack are scheduled to square off on the diamond six times this season with the first three meetings taking place this week (Thursday-Saturday) in Las Vegas at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. Not only do these games count towards the standings in the Mountain West Conference, but also the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold.

The Governor's Series is an all-encompassing athletic and academic head-to-head competition between the Silver State's institutions. To date, UNLV maintains a three-point lead, 10-5 to 7.5, in the 2015-16 standings.

The Scarlet & Gray has won the Governor's Series each year of its existence dating back to its start for 2012-13. UNLV baseball has provided the Rebel athletics department the three points associated with the sport in two of the three previous campaigns, 2012-13 and 2013-14.

ON DECK ... WITH TECH: The UNLV Rebels remain at home at Earl E. Wilson Monday and Tuesday (March 28-29) to close out their second six-game homestand of the season with two contests against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The affairs - Tuesday at 6:05 pm and Wednesday at 1:05 pm - will be the eighth and ninth that UNLV has played against Big 12 Conference competition this season after it began the year with three on the road at Texas and three at home versus West Virginia.

PACKIN' UP & HEADIN' OUT: Following the two-game set against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, The UNLV Rebels will play 16 of their next 19 games on the road. UNLV will play eight straight away from Las Vegas twice with its only home games coming in a three-game series versus the Air Force Falcons from April 15-17.
