March 8, 2016 BOULDER CITY, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 23 UNLV women's golf shot a 5-over-par 293 on the final day of the Battle at Boulder Creek II at the par-72, 6,285 yard Boulder Creek Golf Course to capture the team title with a 9-under 855 (279-283-293). Elizabeth Prior captured her first collegiate win competing as an individual with a 15-under-par 201 (64-69-68), finishing eight strokes ahead of freshman Kaylee Benton (70-67-72).
All five Rebels competing for the team score placed in the top 10. Benton shot an even-par 72 in the final round to finish in second place. Sophomore Harley Dubsky had the best score of the Rebels on the final day with a 1-under 71 to finish at 1-under 215 (71-73-71) in third place. Junior Alexandra Kaui tied for fourth place with a score of 2-over 218 (67-70-81). Sophomore Mackenzie Raim turned in a 4-over 220 (72-73-75) for sixth place, and junior Vivian Hsuan Chen registered a 7-over 223 (71-77-75) to tie for eighth place.
Freshmen Texie June Petchel and Shannon Oh placed in the top ten as individuals. June Petchel shot a 6-over 222 (73-77-72) for seventh place, and Oh tied for eighth place one stroke behind her at 7-over 223 (74-73-76). Freshman Alyssa Getty finished tied for 14th place with a 17-over 233 (78-80-75).
Boston University finished 60 strokes behind UNLV for second place at 51-over 915 (290-307-318). Northern Colorado came in third place with a team score of 53-over 917 (297-311-309).
The first place finish for the Rebels is the second tournament win in the 2015-16 campaign after tying for first place in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Oct. 27 and the fourth first place finish under sixth-year head coach Amy Bush-Herzer's tenure at UNLV. Prior's 15-under 201 is the second lowest individual tournament score in UNLV history. The team score of 9-under 855 is the third lowest team tournament score in program history. Every UNLV golfer except Raim had their highest finish ever at a tournament.
UNLV will be back in action next week in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational from Mar. 14-15. The first two rounds are slated to be competed on the first day next Monday.
