May 9, 2016 2016 UNLV Baseball Weekly Notes: Week 13
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels remain in Las Vegas and at Earl E. Wilson Stadium this week, as they begin the second half of their season-long, eight-game homestand. UNLV, which went 3-1 at home last week, welcomes the Arizona State Sun Devils to town Tuesday evening for a 6:05 pm affair. The Rebels will close out the stretch with three contests in Mountain West play versus the Fresno State Bulldogs over the weekend.
RECENT GOINGS-ON: The UNLV Rebels (22-25) enter the week winners of four of their last five games after they claimed victories over the San Jose State Spartans (May 1: 3-2 in 11 innings), UC Irvine Anteaters (May 3: 8-6) and New Mexico Lobos (May 6: 11-6 and 8: 10-4). Their only defeat came to the Lobos on May 7 (6-2).
The Arizona State Sun Devils (28-16) have won eight of their last 10 outings. ASU had a five-game winning streak snapped this past Sunday at home by the Oregon Ducks (12-2). The Sun Devils had been victorious three times against New Mexico (9-5; 7-4 and 1-0) and twice versus Oregon (5-4 and 9-8) before their loss.
The Rebels and Sun Devils have squared off once earlier this year - an 11-7 UNLV win - on April 19 at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. The two played a home-and-home series in 2015 and each contest was decided by only one run: a 5-4 ASU win on March 11 and a 7-6 UNLV win on April 7/8.
TUNE IN, WATCH & LISTEN: The UNLV Rebels will have a live video stream for their game against the Arizona State Sun Devils Tuesday night. Additionally, the ESPN 1100 AM/100.9 FM radio call from Dug Dugless and former Major Leaguer Josh Towers will accompany the stream, which is produced by the Mountain West Network in conjunction with Campus Insiders. Links for the stream and radio as well as live stats will be made available at UNLVRebels.com.
