June 9, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball will hold six camps specialized for individual instruction between June and August at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. Five of the camps are dedicated to youth aged five to 13 while the final sixth, a Showcase Camp, is designed for players in high school and junior college that are interested in attending UNLV and playing baseball for the Rebels.
The five youth camps are scheduled to run Monday through Thursday on June 13-16, June 27-30, July 11-14 and twice more in August (1-4 and 15-18). The camp primarily runs from 8:30 to 11:30 am, and it costs $175, but an afternoon session (11:30 am to 2:30 pm) can be added for an additional $100. Campers will be given general baseball instruction and participate in drills specialized in hitting, throwing, defense and pitching. Additionally, batting practice, arm care, sliding drills and competitive relays and drills will take place.
The Showcase Camp is two days and will run Aug. 20-21 (Sat.-Sun.). It is formulated to allow players the opportunity to display their abilities in front of the Rebel coaching staff as well as interact with players and coaches. Campers will experience positional and hitting instruction while also taking part in showcase games, batting practice, a pro-style workout and defensive skills evaluation.
