Boyd Named Outstanding Rebel of the Week

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV football wide receiver Devonte Boyd has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.

 The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.

 Boyd, a product of Basic High School in Henderson, opened up his junior campaign with a dominant performance against Jackson State on Thursday at Sam Boyd Stadium. The unanimous preseason All-MW First Team selection scored three touchdowns and set a new career high in receiving yards with 135 -- all in the first half. Boyd's ninth career 100-yard outing included touchdown receptions of 56, 32 and 30 yards, helping the Rebels mount a 42-7 first-half lead in an eventual 63-13 victory.

UNLV (1-0) heads to Pasadena this weekend to take on UCLA in the historic Rose Bowl. Game time is set for 5 p.m. PT and will air on Pac-12 Networks.
