Oct. 1, 2017 Box Score | @UNLVvball | 2017 Schedule | Purchase Tickets LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Boise State Broncos in Mountain West action at the Cox Pavilion Saturday. The Broncos (11-5, 4-0 MW) defeated the Rebels (4-12, 0-4 MW) behind set scores of 25-12, 25-22, 25-18.
BSU outhit UNLV by 207 points (.264 to .057) behind a 23-kill advantage (47-24) in five more attack attempts (110-105); however, both teams had 18 errors. The Broncos topped out with a .367 hitting efficiency in the opening set and also had a .325 in the third, but only mustered a .125 in the middle frame. The Rebels, on the other hand, were held to a .000 average in both the first and second, but managed a .194 in the third.
STAT OF THE GAME: BSU amassed double-figure kills in all three sets and had at least a plus-5 kill-to-error ratio each frame, while UNLV was limited to a plus-6 showing.
REBELS OF THE GAME: Ashley Owens led the team with five assisted blocks, which helped the Rebels to 8.0 total team blocks. Offensively, Owens paced UNLV with her .279 hitting efficiency and six kills, which tied for the team lead.
REBEL NOTES:
*With her five total blocks (all assisted), Ashley Owens simultaneously moved into second place in the program's career record book in assisted blocks (349) and total blocks (398).
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will hit the road to face the San Jose State Spartans and Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack next week. The Rebels will take on the Spartans Thursday (October 5) at 6:00 pm. Two days later, the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold will be rekindled between the Rebels and Wolf Pack in Reno (Saturday, October 7/1:00 pm). The Governor's Series is the all-encompassing head-to-head challenge between the Silver State's NCAA Division I institutions.
REBELS RETURN HOME: With the conclusion of next week's road trip, UNLV will return to Las Vegas and the Cox Pavilion to host four matches in a two-week stretch. The homestand will begin with stops by Fresno State and San Diego State on October 12 and 14, respectively, and continue the following week with No. 24 Colorado State (October 19) and Wyoming (October 21) the following week.
