LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 42nd-ranked UNLV women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to No. 49 Arizona State on Wednesday at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center.

The Rebels fell to 10-6 while the Sun Devils improved to 8-5.

ASU opened the afternoon by taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and three.

In singles, UNLV's lone win came from Aiwen Zhu (17-5) defeating No. 63 Sammi Hampton 7-6. 5-7, 1-0 (11-9) on court two, picking up her first win against a ranked opponent this season. Paola Artiga won the first set at No. 5 6-4, but ultimately fell short to Savannah Slaysman the final two sets.

UNLV will look to rebound when it hosts a pair of dual matches on Saturday starting with conference opponent Boise State at 10 a.m. PT followed by Southern Utah at 2 p.m. PT. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
