SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team blew by San Diego State 7-0 Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center to spoil the Aztecs' Mountain West 2017 debut.

The Rebels improved to 13-6 overall and 3-0 in conference play while the Aztecs dropped to 5-14 and 0-1. UNLV gained a 1-0 lead to start the match by winning the doubles point with victories at the second and third spots. Carol Zi Yang and Cristina Moroi downed Kennedy Davis and Mia Smith 6-2 at the second position while Paola Artiga and Anna Bogoslavets beat Alli Valk and Olivia Larsson 6-2 on court three to clinch the point.

Moving to singles, the hosts won all six matches to secure the sweep. Yang, ranked 27th in singles, edged by Jana Buth 7-6 (4), 6-3 at the top position; Aiwen Zhu defeated Kennedy Davis 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 for her 20th win of the season; Bogoslavets upended Paola Diaz 6-0, 6-1 on court three; En-Pei Huang escaped Smith 6-7 (6), 7-6 (6), 1-0 (12-10) at No. 4; Artiga beat Berta Acero 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5; and Jovana Kenic finished off Larsson 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) on court six for her 20th win of the season.

Next up, UNLV will look to remain perfect in league play when it travels to the Bay Area for a dual match against conference opponent San Jose State on Sunday at noon.
