LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team (15-28) jumped back in the win column Tuesday night with a 5-1, come-from-behind win over the Portland Pilots (8-30-1) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The visitors out of the West Coast Conference pushed across the game's first run in the sixth; however, the Rebels answered back with a four-run seventh en route to the victory.

UNLV's Corey Wilson and Portland's Corbin Powers (0-5) got the starts for their respective clubs and combined to throw 12-plus innings, strikeout 11, and allow three runs off of 12 hits. Wilson struck out four and earned a no-decision in the contest after he threw six frames and surrendered one run off of six hits. Powers, on the other hand, struck out seven against five walks, but was tagged with the loss after he allowed two runs in his brief time on the mound in the seventh.

Wilson's lone blemish came in the sixth when he gave up a solo home run off a 1-0 pitch to Tate Budnick.

"I'm proud of our offense for staying the course and not panicking," said head coach Stan Stolte. "I thought that Portland's kids pitched their tails off. Corey was outstanding. He stayed within himself and didn't try to do too much, which was great to see. He's a great kid who has been working hard."

The Rebels, who had left eight runners on base in the first six innings â€" six of which were in scoring position, finally got to Powers in the seventh with back-to-back hits from Kyle Isbel and Payton Squier. With runners on the corners, the Pilots summoned Jordan Horak from the bullpen. Horak began his stint on the mound with a strikeout, but then permitted Justin Jones to drop a bunt down in front of the plate that scored Isbel from third. Additionally, Horak committed an error on the play, which resulted in Squier and Jones moving into scoring position. After walking Cody Howard on four pitches, Horak uncorked a wild pitch to Bryson Stott that brought Squier home. Jones and Howard upped the lead to three â€" 4-1 â€" when they scored four pitches later when Portland's shortstop misplayed a grounder from Stott.

Horak's bad luck carried over into the eighth when he gave up a leadoff single to Corey Pool before exiting the game in exchange for Connor Knutson. Pool eventually made his way back to the plate off a fielding error, a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly. Squier was credited with the RBI off the run-scoring fly out to left field.

In all, Horak was touched three unearned runs off of one hit with one strikeout and one walk. Knutson also only threw one inning, and he struck out one.

UNLV's bullpen was nearly flawless Tuesday night. Blaze Bohall (2-4) picked up the win in one inning of relief after he tossed a scoreless seventh. Alan Strong and Bryan Menendez threw the eighth and ninth, respectively, and combined to strikeout three against two hits.

The Rebels and Pilots return to Wilson Stadium Wednesday for an afternoon matinee. First pitch is slated for 2:05 pm. The contest has been billed as a "Strike Out Bullying Game," and fans wearing white in support of bullying awareness can purchase tickets for $3. The first 150 fans through the gates will receive a free ice cream sandwich courtesy of Anderson Dairy.

NOTES: De La Trinidad extended his reached-base streak to 36 games, which ties Joey Armstrong's haul from the 2015 campaign … With two hits, Isbel moved back into a tie for the team lead in multiple-hit games alongside De La Trinidad with 19 each … With two hits, Squier notched his 15th multiple-hit game.
