2017 UNLV Baseball Weekly Notes

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team hits the road for the final time during the 2017 regular season with a trip to the northern portion of the Silver State for three games against the Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack at Peccole Park.

The first two contests of the series on Friday and Saturday are slated to begin at 6:00 pm while Sunday's finale is set for 1:00 pm.

GOVERNOR'S SERIES SHOWDOWN: This weekend's series between in-state rivals UNLV and Nevada, Reno not only has implications in the Mountain West standings, but also the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold.

To date, the all-encompassing athletic and academic competition between the Silver State's two NCAA Division I athletic departments is deadlocked at 21-all with a total of six points - three each from baseball and women's outdoor track & field - left to be awarded.

The Scarlet & Gray has been victorious each year of the Governor's Series existence dating back to the inaugural competition in 2012-13.

TUNE IN, WATCH & LISTEN: Fans can follow along with the UNLV-Nevada, Reno baseball series via live video provided by the Mountain West Network as well as radio. Links to the video and radio streams as well as live stats will be provided at UNLVRebels.com.

Please Note: Friday's video stream will be joined in progress following the conclusion of the UNR-San Diego State softball game, which begins at 4:00 pm.

DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME: The UNLV baseball team has six games remaining in their 2017 regular-season campaign, all of which are against Mountain West competition. The Rebels close out the season with this weekend's series at Nevada, Reno and a home set against San Jose State on May 18-20.

The Scarlet & Gray, currently, sits in sixth place, but is still capable of finishing as high as third with New Mexico and San Diego State in first and second, respectively. To date, UNLV trails third-place Fresno State by five games while Air Force is fourth and UNR is fifth.

ON DECK: The UNLV baseball team will return to Las Vegas and Earl E. Wilson Stadium next week to close out the 2017 regular season with three games against the San Jose State Spartans. The series begins Thursday at 6:05 pm and continues through Friday (6:05 pm) and Saturday (2:05 pm).

GET YOUR TICKETS: Fans can purchase tickets for $5 online and in advance at UNLVTickets.com. Tickets purchased at the Wilson Stadium box office are $8 for adults, $6 for senior/faculty/staff, while kids 12 and under as well as UNLV students are free.

REACHING BASE ONE GAME AT A TIME: Entering this weekend's series against Fresno State, UNLV baseball's Ernie De La Trinidad has reached base in 43 straight games. That impressive haul is tied for the fourth-longest streak to-date; however, it's tied for the second longest of those that are still active.

Air Force's Tyler Jones has reached base safely in 46 consecutive games, which is both the longest run of the season and it's also the longest active stretch. Jones' teammate Bradley Haslam and Murray State's Brandon Gutlzer had their streaks end at 44 games.

De La Trinidad sits even with Georgetown's Jake Kuzbel with 43 straight while Hawai'i's Dylan Vchulek is next at 42.

During this run, De La Trinidad has gone hitless in eight of the contests, but either walks or hit-by-pitches have kept the stretch alive.
