LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV junior cornerback Jericho Flowers has been named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This marks the first conference weekly award by a Rebel this season and the first from the defensive side of the ball for the program since current Miami Dolphins defensive back Torry McTyer was honored Nov. 14, 2016.

Flowers had 10 total tackles – all solo – and hauled in his first interception of the season to preserve UNLV's thrilling 27-24 upset victory at San Diego State Saturday night. The Aztecs were driving to tie the score or retake the lead with 1:23 remaining when Flowers picked off quarterback Ryan Agnew at the UNLV 34-yard line.

The Rebels next travel to play Hawai'i this Saturday starting at 8 p.m. PT. The season finale vs. UNR is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24 at Sam Boyd Stadium. Tickets are available now by calling (702) 739-FANS or visiting unlvtickets.com.
