en named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department. Cozbinov, a senior from Chișinău, Moldova, jumped on No. 1 Martin Redlicki of UCLA to take the first set, and, after dropping the second, finished the Bruins' star off for the monumental upset, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. The performance was part of an impressive effort by the Rebels at seventh-ranked UCLA that saw UNLV steal a doubles point and deliver a competitive match on nearly every singles court, capped by Cozbinov's upset.
The Rebels return to action at home this weekend, hosting San Diego State and Oregon at the
Fertitta Tennis Complex on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
