Emily Vincent, a former standout at McNeese State, joins the staff in first full-time assistant role
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)Â -Â UNLV softball has added former McNeese State standout pitcher Emily Vincent to its staff, announced head coach Kristie Fox Wednesday. Vincent replaces the departed Tina Andreana.
A native of Sulphur, Louisiana, Vincent played for McNeese State from 2013-16, where she was a four-time All-Southland and All-Louisiana selection, an SLC all-tournament (2016) honoree and was named the Cowgirls' MVP in 2016. Vincent led McNeese to three Southland Conference regular season titles, one SLC Tournament title and one NCAA Tournament appearance, then went on to become the second Cowgirl to play professionally, playing for the Texas Charge in 2017. Over her four-year collegiate career, Vincent posted a 36-13 record with a 2.07 ERA to go along with a .320 career batting average, 201 hits, 43 doubles, 12 triples, 21 home runs, 14 RBI and 78 walks.
Prior to coming to Las Vegas, Vincent spent the 2018 season as a volunteer assistant coach for her alma mater.
"We are excited to have Emily join our staff, she brings a wealth of knowledge both from playing in college, professionally and coaching," said Fox. "I think she will be able to relate to our pitching staff really well and help continue their development at a high level."
Vincent is equally excited and grateful for the opportunity.
"Kristie taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to be the new assistant coach in her program is extremely humbling," said Vincent. "She is so knowledgeable about the game and her passion for the game made it very easy to gravitate toward UNLV. I'm looking forward to learning and growing with the staff, with the girls and with the UNLV program - Go Rebs!"
Vincent graduated from McNeese State University with her Bachelor's Degree in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Sports Management in the spring of 2016.
In addition to Vincent, Fox has also added former North Dakota State pitcher Jacquelyn Sertic to the staff as a graduate assistant.
Sertic graduated from NDSU in the spring of 2018 after a prolific career with the Bison, where she was a two-time Summit League Pitcher of the Year honoree and a three-time Summit League All-League First Team selection. Sertic, who led the Bison to four straight NCAA tournament appearances, finished her career ranked third (on the active NCAA career leader charts)Â with 101 complete games, fourth with 940 strikeouts, sixth in both wins (80) and innings pitched (827.1), seventh with 121 games started and 10th with 25 shutouts. The Rebels actually faced Sertic in their 2018 season opener - a 3-2 nine-inning victory for UNLV - with Sertic limiting the Rebels to just one hit despite the loss.Â
