WAC Home Opener Friday For Rebels

UNLV will also host CSU Bakersfield Sunday afternoon.

UNLV men's soccer is happy to finally be back at Peter Johann Memorial Field, as the Rebels played eight of their first 10 games of the season away from their home field. That changes this weekend with a pair of home conference games, starting with the WAC home opener against Cal Baptist Friday night at 7 pm, while CSU Bakersfield makes the trip to Las Vegas for a Sunday afternoon contest at 1 pm.

Both games will be played at Peter Johann Memorial Field, and the Rebel Mafia Tailgate, featuring free food, free drinks and live music will be open to all ticketed fans for both contests, starting at 5 pm on Friday and 11:30 am on Sunday. The first 200 fans to Friday night's contest will also receive a free UNLV Koozie.

Tickets are just $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for any ticket bought online at UNLVTickets.com up to three hours before the game. New at UNLV this year, all kids are free to UNLV events if they are 12 and under, or 17 and under with a Nevada School ID.

The Rebels are hoping to break a three-game losing streak in which they have scored just one goal. Defense has stayed strong for UNLV however, and of the team's five losses, three were by a 1-0 margin while the fourth was Monday night's 2-1 setback at San Diego State. UNLV played shorthanded for the majority of the match, yet still nearly pulled off a rally for a win.

This will be the first meeting between UNLV and Cal Baptist since 1976, as the Lancers are in their first year at the Division I level and first-year members of the WAC. CSU Bakersfield meanwhile holds an 8-3-2 lead in the all-time series, and the teams have split their last two contests following a pair of ties.

Both games this weekend will be live streamed, carried by the WAC Digital Network which will be available on UNLVRebels.com as well as through the Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android streaming devices. Sunday's game will feature the call of Wyatt Tomcheck on play by play and Eric Rowling as color.
