Women's soccer senior forward Amanda Galbraith earns honor after two goals and an assist last weekend
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -Â UNLV women's soccer senior Amanda Galbraith has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.
Galbraith, from Petaluma, California, led UNLV to a pair of wins last weekend - a 3-1 victory on the road at Cal State Northridge and a dominant 6-0 win at home Sunday against Cal State Bakersfield. Thursday at CSUN, the senior gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute, then assisted on what proved to be the game-winner in the 18th minute as she sent a perfect corner kick to the waiting head of her teammate Katie Ballou for the second goal in the win. In Sunday's match at home over CSU Bakersfield, Galbraith scored the first goal of the game for the second straight match, which ultimately was the game-winner in UNLV's first shutout of the season.Â
For her performance, Galbraith was named a honorable mention selection to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week.Â
The Rebels will have another road-home split this weekend as they head to Flagstaff on Friday for a bought against Northern Arizona, then return home to host Montana Sunday afternoon.
