Lady Rebels Fall 80-72 In Reno

UNLV is back in action Saturday against Utah State.

RENO, Nevada (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV fell behind early and couldn't stop the UNR offense while missed free throws played a huge role as the Lady Rebels fell 70-62 to the Wolf Pack Wednesday night at Lawlor Events Center.

The Lady Rebels opened the game with the first basket, but would not score again until the 3:12 mark. By that point the Wolf Pack had already opened up a 10-2 advantage. UNR would finish the first quarter up 18-10, before the Lady Rebels made a move in the second quarter. A 5-0 run brought UNLV within 27-23 at the 4:14 mark.

THE TURNING POINT: A three-pointer from Jordyn Bell that brought UNLV again within four at 32-28 at the 3:01 mark. That was the final point of the first half for the visiting Lady Rebels, as UNR closed the quarter with eight straight points, including three free throws with one second left for a 40-28 advantage.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV missed 12 free throws in the eight-point loss, finishing the night 17-of-29 for 58.6%.

LADY REBEL NOTES: * UNLV has lost three straight games to UNR for the first time in school history. The Lady Rebels still lead the all-time series 35-11.

* UNLV trailed by 10 at the end of the third quarter before the Wolf Pack again scored three points with a second left, this time on a three-pointer by Camariah King, who made a game-high three. UNR made five three-pointers on the night to three for UNLV.

* UNLV lost despite holding a 39-35 edge on the boards and shooting 42% (21-of-50) from the floor.

* The team's streak of consecutive games with a made three-pointer is now at 128.

NEXT TIME OUT: UNLV returns home for National Girls & Women In Sports Day Saturday, February 2. The Lady Rebels will host an all-sports clinic with over 300 kids attending before then hosting the Utah State Aggies at 2 pm in the Cox Pavilion.
