The honors keep coming in for UNLV midfielder Nico Clasen, as the first-year player was named to Third Team All-Freshman by College Soccer News. Clasen is the third Rebel to earn all-freshman honors from CSN, following Danny Cruz (2nd team) in 2007 and Sal Bernal (3rd team) in 2011.
This is the third honor for Clasen after his initial year with the Rebels, as he was selected All-Far West Region Third Team by United Soccer Coaches, and was a WAC All-Freshman honoree as well.
Clasen, a native of Mönchengladbach, Germany, set a new UNLV freshman record and was just one off the school record for total assists in a season with 10 in his first year in the Scarlet & Gray. That also ranked him in a tie for seventh in the nation, and was the second-highest in the WAC as well.Â
UNLV finished the season at 10-10-1, which pushed its streak of 10-win seasons to a school-record five straight.
