Rebels Finish 11th At Jim West Challenge

Samantha Fuller was UNLV's top finisher at one of nation's premier college golf tournaments with score of 2-under par.

SAN MARCOS, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team shot a final round of 12-over-par 300 and finished in 11th place at the Jim West Challenge, which was hosted by Texas State at the Kissing Tree Golf Club (par 72, 6,033 yards).

No. 15 Ole Miss won the team title by 10 shots at 28-under after a final-round 4-under. Texas Tech placed second at 18-under, followed by Miami in third at 16-under, while Texas State and Texas A&M tied for fourth at 14-under. UNLV's 54-hole score was 5-over 869.

Individually, Texas State's Sasikarn Somboonsup earned medalist honors by a shot at 10-under 206 after a final-round 5-under. Ole Miss' Julia Johnson finished second at 9-under.

UNLV junior Samantha Fuller was the Rebels top individual finisher as she tied for 27th at 2-under.

STAT OF THE DAY: Only two teams were under par during the final round (Ole Miss and Texas A&M).

REBEL OF THE DAY: Fuller also had UNLV's best round of the day at even-par 72. She had four birdies and four bogeys.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will be back in action starting Sunday, Oct. 27, as it hosts the three-day Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

NOTABLE:
• This was UNLV's third tournament of the fall.
• The Rebels have a new look with just three returners from last year's roster. Six new faces have joined the 2019-20 squad.
• Prior to the 2018-19 season, UNLV had won three straight Mountain West titles and made a NCAA postseason appearance in 16 consecutive years.
• Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer is in her ninth year at the helm of the program. She has led her team to a conference championship four times.
