NAPA, CALIFORNIA (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team began its final regular season tournament Sunday at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California and finished the day in 14th place after carding a 15-over 303.
Sophomore
Polly Mack, coming off her first outright tournament title in her last event, was the top performer of the day for the Rebels as she shot a 2-over 74 to sit tied for 24th. Senior
Elizabeth Prior was a shot behind Mack at 3-over (75) in a tie for 33rd followed by senior
Shannon Oh in a tie for 44th at 4-over (76). Sophomore
Cathy Liu shot a 6-over 78 to sit tied for 66th and freshman
Veronica Joels rounded it out in a tie for 87th at 10-over 82.
Conference foe San Jose State turned in the best team-round of the day - a 1-over 289 - to sit atop the leaderboard after one round. Three teams are tied for second two shots behind the Spartans at 3-over - No. 9 UCLA, No. 1 USC and No. 16 Northwestern. Stanford finished out the top five at 6-over 294.
A pair of Northwestern golfers - Brooke Riley and Stephanie Liu - are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under 70, while seven different players are tied at 1-under 71.
NEXT UP FOR THE REBELS: The Silverado Showdown continues Monday morning with 18 more holes for round two. Tee times begin at 7:45 a.m.

REBEL NOTES:
• UNLV has finished in the top-10 in all five tournaments this spring, including a first-place finish at Battle at Boulder Creek and a second place finish at Rebel Beach
• Polly Mack earned her first outright victory at the Mountain View Invitational this spring with a career-low 54-hole score of 10-under. She was named Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this spring after her victory
• The Rebels finished second at their second annual Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Country Club in February, which is co-hosted by Long Beach State. Prior blew out the field with a seven-shot victory for her second straight tournament win
• The Rebels opened the spring with a team win at the Battle of Boulder Creek, with Prior and Mack tying for medalist honors
• Prior and Mack were named Co-Mountain West Women's Golfers of the Week after their win at Boulder Creek, then Prior earned it a second consecutive week after her win at Rebel Beach
• Last spring, the Rebels won three consecutive MW titles for the first time since they won three in a row from 2004-06
• UNLV has won four conference championships in seven years under head coach Amy Bush-Herzer
