LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Softball welcomed two signees to its 2021 class, head coach Kristie Fox announced Thursday. Ariana Martinez and Sofia Morales signed National Letters of Intent on the first day of the signing period Wednesday and will join the program next fall.
"We are very excited to add these two players to our Rebel Family," said Fox. "They both played for elite programs and have competed and exceeded against some of the best. I think they have the character and work ethic to help our program to continue to move forward."Â

Martinez will come to Las Vegas from the Lone Star State. The infielder is from San Antonio, Texas, where she has been a member of the varsity squad since she was a freshman at Holmes High School. Martinez, a first baseman, helped the Huskies to a district championship her first season and a runner-up district finisher her sophomore year. After her junior campaign was canceled due to the pandemic, the lefty will wrap up her prep career this coming spring. She plans on majoring in kinesiology at UNLV.

Morales, a Newbury Park, California, native, will be a four-year letterwinner on varsity softball when she graduates from Newbury Park High School in the spring. During her prep career, Morales has played both outfield and infield, helping the Panthers go 51-16 over the last two-plus seasons, which included a district championship in 2018. Morales has been a standout at the plate, hitting .475 her freshman year, .488 her sophomore season and an impressive .711 in 12 games before her junior year was cut short due to the pandemic. Morales plays her club ball for the So Cal Choppers, who have finished top-10 in the country in each of the last three seasons. She plans on majoring in business management at UNLV.
