Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Runnin' Rebels Fall In Heartbreaker To UNR, 82-79

UNLV plays program-record sixth overtime of the season, Hamilton scores a team-high 23 points with nine rebounds Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team went to overtime for a program-record sixth time this season, but fell in a heartbreaker to rival UNR, 82-79, Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Runnin' Rebels (12-14, 7-6) were led by sophomore guard Bryce Hamilton's 23 points and nine rebounds, while junior guards Jonah Antonio and Amauri Hardy each scored 14 points. Senior forward Nick Blair also had nine rebounds.

Jalen Harris' double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds led the Wolf Pack (16-10, 9-5). Jazz Johnson added 19 points, Nisre Zouzoua contributed 12 points and Lindsey Drew pulled down 13 rebounds.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV was just 9 of 39 on 3-pointers for 23.1 percent.

CHANCE AT THE END: UNLV had a chance to tie or take the lead near the end of the overtime period, but Hamilton's 3-point try from near the top of the key missed with 10 seconds to go. Harris was fouled and made one of two free throws.

QUOTABLE: "It was a good college basketball game. Obviously, I feel for our guys that we didn't come out on the other end of the game. I felt like defensively early we weren't what we needed to be and offensively late we weren't what we needed to be, but overall our guys competed and fought, especially with smaller lineups and undersized guys out there from start to finish. We just have to do a better job of being attentive to every detail in games like that to come out with a victory." - UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberger

NOTES:
- It was just the second home loss for UNLV in its last nine games at the Thomas & Mack Center.
- Antonio made four 3-pointers, his highest total in five games.
- UNLV committed just seven turnovers, tying its season low.
- UNLV shot just 48 percent from the free-throw line (12 of 25), while UNR was 64.3 percent (18 of 28).
- There were a total of five lead changes and nine ties.
- UNLV led in bench points, 30-20.
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,096 straight games.

NEXT FOR THE RUNNIN' REBELS: UNLV will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to face UNM on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. PT. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
