LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball program's incoming freshman class received "honorable mention" status in Prepvolleyball.com's annual listing of top collegiate recruiting classes. The Rebels' placement is based on the additions of Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos (Alta Loma, California), Carlee Cannella (Honolulu), Arien Fafard (Las Vegas), Gabriella Rawson (Rancho Cucamonga, California) and Trinity Sheridan (Crystal Lake, Illinois).
 
"We are incredibly excited for these outstanding young women to join our program in 2020," said head coach Dawn Sullivan. "Each of them bring a different perspective, energy and experience to our program at UNLV. Can't wait!"
 
The publication does not take into consideration UNLV's signing of Cassidy Nelson, a transfer that played at Laramie County Community College the past two seasons.
 
This year's recognition is the first for the UNLV program since the 2017 freshmen class also garnered honorable mention standing, and included current Rebels Jillian Berg, Erin Davis, Alison French and Mariena Hayden. Rising senior Thea Sweder was also a member of that class, but not included in the team rankings due to her international status.

Colorado State was the only other Mountain West program mentioned in PrepVolleyball.com's rankings, as it came in No. 29.
 
PrepVolleyball.com acknowledges the top 100 classes with the three classifications: Top 30, Highest Honorable Mention (30 teams) and Honorable Mention (40 teams).
 
SENIOR ACES: Rebel signee Trinity Sheridan was named to PrepVolleyball.com's "Senior Aces" during the 2019 season, as one of the top 250 Class of 2020 recruits in the nation. 
 
SIGNEE SYNOPSES:
-Trinity Sheridan comes to UNLV by way of the Chicagoland area and Prairie Ridge High School. Sheridan was a 2019 Under Armour Girls All-America Honorable Mention selection as well as a News-Gazette All-State Special Mention and All-Fox Valley Team performer. The right-side hitter amassed 358 kills, 162 digs, 39 blocks, 24 aces and 18 assists as a senior. Plays club for Sky High.
 
-Arien Fafard enters the program coming off a stellar prep career that saw her earn all-state honors all four years, including first team accolades following her sophomore, junior and senior seasons at Palo Verde High School. Additionally, Fafard was the 2018 Mountain League Player of the Year. As a senior, she had 690 assists, 224 digs, 185 kills, 50 blocks and 46 aces. Plays club for Dig This.
 
-Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos garnered numerous accolades during her prep career. She was a three-time all-league performer who was also selected the 2019 All-Palomares League MVP, while playing for Alta Loma HS. Additionally, Arretche-Ramos was named to the Sun/Bulletin First Team, All-SoCal Varsity Girls Volleyball First Team and to the All-Southern California Varsity Team. She was chosen to participate in the Inland Valley All-Star Classic and was chosen her high school's Female Athlete of the Year. In May 2019, she was recognized by Prep Volleyball for the JVA West Coast Standout Performance. Plays club for Forza1 Volleyball Club.
 
-Gabriella Rawson was an all-league first team selection for three straight years and an honorable mention selection once. Plays club for Forza1 Volleyball Club.
 
-Carlee Cannella helped Kamehameha Kapalama High School to a pair of state titles. Cannella participated with USAV HP in 2016-17. In 2014-15, participated with Mililani and Piko, respectively, with a pair of top-five finishes. Plays club for Spike and Serve Volleyball Club.
 
-Cassidy Nelson transfers to UNLV after spending two years in Wyoming at Laramie County Community College where she helped the Golden Eagles to a regional regular-season and tournament title. As a sophomore, Nelson earned NJCAA All-America Honorable Mention and All-Region IX North Team honors after posting 19 double-doubles with help from 548 kills and 404 digs.
 
LOOKING BACK: UNLV is coming off its second straight 20-win season and consecutive appearances in the Women's National Invitational Championship. The Rebels concluded the year in the second round of the NIVC with a 20-11 overall record, and a third-place showing in the Mountain West with a 15-3 conference mark.
