AN JOSE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't get past San Jose State's (4-5-1, 2-1) stingy defense, as it fell 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Spartan Soccer Complex.
The Rebels (4-6, 0-3) posted a season-high 11 shots on target against the Spartans, but San Jose State goalkeeper David Sweeney made a bevy of saves to blank the Scarlet and Gray's aggressive attack. Juniors
Skyler Goo and
Kai Lange led the way in the shot department for UNLV, as each put up three shots on frame apiece.
An 18th-minute goal gave San Jose State control of the match and a 1-0 lead for most of the contest. The Spartans went on to tack on their second score as time wound down with one second on the game clock.
UNLV will make its way back to Las Vegas to host a pair of WAC contests, taking on Houston Baptist Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Chicago State on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
